About Our Packaging

Our packaging isn't nearly as cool as our Helium3 grip.

But why should it be?

We appreciate a beautifully conceived and executed unboxing experience, but we were clear from the outset that we wanted to direct as much of our investment (and your purchase price) into the grip itself, as little as possible into packaging. We believe the product is the point, not the experience of opening the box.

We also figured there's already WAY too much waste from packaging for the sake of an exceptionally ephemeral high, especially considering the incredibly negative long-tail impact of it.

Still, we looked closely at how we might find an optimal compromise where even in our packaging we'd be consistent with our other core values of design excellence, precision, thorough consideration and yes, total experience.

We initially focused on molded pulp packaging.

It turns out the tooling expense was unjustified at this first run volume; quite likely unjustified at higher volumes, too.

We were about to explore die-cut cardboard inserts when we got caught short by demand (we sold out in less than 72 hours) and had to scramble, putting this approach on hold.

This is why our very first production run shipped the way it did: in unprinted, off-the-shelf cardboard boxes with (on the other hand) custom, laser-cut foam inserta. This combination served its purpose, i.e., protecting the grip and accessories during transit at the lowest price possible all things considered: our objective is to get the most from our grip that we can possibly give you, and if the entire package is not biodegradable, at least the box is.

It was a start.

As we prepare for our next production run (hold that thought, though you won’t have to for very long), we are looking closely at a new, more sustainable packaging option because (as in all we do) we are always looking to do better.

We’re Learning About International Shipping.

Live and learn. Sigh.

So far, our biggest teething problem has been international shipping. We’ve only learned about problems as people have been trying to order!

The good news: while we have been addressing international requests on an individual basis, we have now automated shipping to:

  • Puerto Rico

  • Canada

  • United Kingdom

  • Norway

  • Germany

  • Turkiye

  • Hong Kong

  • Philippines

  • Australia

  • New Zealand

If your country is not listed but you are interested in purchasing, please email us at info@heliumlab.design with you full address, and we will do our best to accommodate you.

We wish to reiterate; VAT, export, customs, and other applicable international taxes are the responsibility of the buyer, and are NOT included nor collected by our processing system.
